The Wellness Center

The Wellness Center is the core of the Physical Education Program and a resource for exercising beyond the school day. Located in the heart of the atrium and athletic complex the center is utilized daily for physical education classes and staffed after school for team training and personal workouts.

Athletic team workouts are scheduled through the Wellness Coordinator, and are supervised by each individual coach for their respective teams. Training sessions may be conducted simultaneously during the 2-hour after school open exercise program, or after 4:30 p.m. for exclusive team use. Coaches must be present during all times.

Mission
The Wellness Center facilitates the growth and development of healthy bodies and minds by providing the Oliver Ames Community with opportunities for all constituencies to engage in fitness activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles.

Expectations
It is the shared responsibility of all school personnel to monitor and assist with the management of the Atrium. This includes the peripheral space surrounding the area that is used for multiple purposes. For safety and security, the following guidelines have been established for the Atrium and Wellness Center:
  • Athletic equipment and projectiles are not allowed in the Atrium or Wellness Center. These items must be stored and secured in the locker rooms.
  • The Atrium may be used for exercise preparation and stretching only. No horseplay or ball-playing allowed.
  • No loitering in the training room or Atrium. No students allowed on the second floor of the atrium.
  • Specific Wellness Center Rules and Regulations are posted in the training room. Supervisors have authority over all fitness room conduct and use of equipment. Failure to follow the rules may result in loss of privileges. All after school participants must complete a permission form.
