Student/Principal's Advisory Council

Principal Wes Paul is continuing with the Student Advisory Council to insure every student has an opportunity to take part in the governance of Oliver Ames High School. This initiative is called the Student/Principal Advisory Council is open to all students and will meet on a monthly basis. There is no election necessary to participate. All that is required is a desire to play a role in shaping the future of education at Oliver Ames High School. Each student who chooses to participate must commit to making the monthly meetings, but each monthly meeting is open to the general student population. Mr. Paul will hold an informational meeting after school in early September for students interested in joining this council and provide more detailed information about the nature of the council and the schedule for meetings. The major goal of this council is to make sure student concerns are heard and that students are provided an opportunity to participate in goal setting and program development here at Oliver Ames High School. Students will be given a monthly report concerning the school and its programs and will also be given an opportunity to raise a concern or ask a question. Mr. Paul hopes that, from this council, a handful of students will be selected to participate on hiring committees established in the spring to fill teaching vacancies.

Parent/Principal Coffee Hour Dates

Mr. Paul is pleased to announce the dates for this year's Parent Principal Coffee Hours. This forum for parents to meet with the principal and ask questions or obtain clarification on important issues or procedures has worked well for the past two years. The dates are listed below for your convenience in establishing your family calendar. As the name of the forum implies, the meetings are an hour in length. I begin the meeting with some general information and then provide parents who are interested an opportunity to ask questions or make suggestions. The Student Council provides light refreshments and coffee and tea for your enjoyment. The meetings take place in the cafeteria. The time spent together is relaxed and informative, and I hope you can join me for a few of the meetings if your schedule permits.
