A. Laboratory investigations are an integral part of students' science experience. Individual classroom teachers determine the format for laboratory reports. Students will be familiarized with all available safety equipment before participating in formal laboratory experiments. Appropriate behavior is required during all lab sessions. Inappropriate lab behavior may result in a suspension of laboratory privileges or expulsion from science class.

B. Students are assigned a numbered textbook at the beginning of each school year. They are responsible for turning in that book at the end of the school year. Any student who fails to do so will be responsible for the replacement cost of their text. Students are also held responsible for breakage of laboratory equipment due to their own negligence. Science texts must be covered at all times to avoid damage.

C. Honors science students must participate in the school's annual science fair or science outreach program. Classroom teachers design science fair activities for their students. All students have the option of conducting independent research in order to fulfill their science fair requirements.

D. Success in science class is dependent on regular attendance. Students are responsible for any work missed due to absence. The student handbook may be used as a guideline in determining assignment make-up due dates. Homework is assigned regularly and checked in all science classes.

E. Biological and chemical wastes are disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
