A. Quizzes - A quiz may be given at any time with or without notice. The number will vary according to the class and the material covered.
B. Tests - A test is given after each unit of work or chapter in the textbook. Students will be told in advance of the test date. A review is conducted before the test.
C. Partial Credit - Misspelled vocabulary words receive no credit. Sentences with an error may receive partial credit. The teacher will judge in each case.
D. Scaling Grades - Scaling of any kind is NOT the practice of the department. There will be no "dropping" of the lowest (quiz or other) grade.
E. Cheating - Cheating will result in a grade of zero for the test, quiz or assignment for all students involved.
F. Extra Credit - Additional work for the purpose of raising a grade will not be accepted. Students will be encouraged to spend extra time and effort on their daily work to improve the grade.
G. Homework - Homework is assigned on a daily basis. Credit for homework will be reflected in the student's term grade in a specific manner predetermined by the teacher and explained to the classes at the beginning of the academic year.
H. French or Spanish will be the primary language spoken in class, rather than English.
I. Honor students in Spanish and French are required to take the AP Exam or the SAT II Exam of the target language studied.
J. Students are assigned numbered textbooks at the beginning of each school year. They are responsible for turning in that book at the end of the school year. Any student who fails to do so will be responsible for the replacement cost of the textbook. Students are also held responsible for damages to the textbook.
